While the headline is about a habitual DUI the real story is in the last paragraph I've excerpted below:
Of the other drivers arrested Saturday night, police said, one other was booked on a DUI charge, four on driving on a suspended license and 16 on driving without ever being issued a license. Two others were cited for allegedly having an expired license.
Can you say illegal immigrants.
Where did it say the drivers were illegal immigrants?

Petaluma Police arrested 24 drivers over the weekend after setting up a checkpoint on Lakeville Highway at South McDowell Boulevard.
One of those arrested, Amador Fernandez Hernandez, allegedly had a blood alcohol level nearly three times the legal limit, according to Petaluma Police.
Hernandez, 33, has three prior DUI convictions and is currently on probation for drunk driving, police said.
He was supposed to be using a device that checked for intoxication before allowing him to start the engine, police said. But at the time of his arrest, he was allegedly driving a friend's car without the device.
The Petaluma man was arrested on charges of felony DUI, violation of probation and driving on a suspended license. He was booked into Sonoma County Jail where he remained in custody Sunday without bail due to an immigration hold.
One out of 16. That hardly deserves a comment like "Can you say illegal immigrants". And the original article gave no indication of the status of the drivers. The comment was based on bias and intolerance, not fact. US Holocaust Museum in DC. has a good exhibit on Nazi propaganda. People might learn something. BTW, I am NOT comparing anyone to being a Nazi, just pointing out how propaganda and misinformation works.
ReplyDeleteThe reason I posted this is that the DUI stop was set up near Jessica's house on a major thoroughfare. It was quite a production with many police cars and motorcycle officers and a command station truck. That's why I went to the local paper to see what it was all about.
ReplyDeleteSince it is not possible for newspapers to use the term illegal immigrant out here, the reporters use other terms. Like never having been issued a drivers license. Now what are the chances you would find 16 legals that have never been issued a license at one of these stops?
I believe you are intentionally blind to the current illegal immigration problem so you can maintain the mindset that everybody else is just plain racist. Do you think those arrested for not having a license had insurance?
I read your reply and am stunned by the comparison. It is so simple minded as to beggar the imagination.
ReplyDeleteI guess when you're a hammer everything is a nail.
read John's reply. He was driving a friends car. What makes you say the car had no insurance??? Where is the fact that none had insurance?? Are you telling me that in CA a person can register a vehicle without insurance??
ReplyDeleteI stand by my previous comment.
Are you being intentionally obtuse?
ReplyDeleteWhen I posted, I highlighted the following:
"and 16 on driving without ever being issued a license."
The percentage without a license was an indicator of their immigration status.
The person John pointed to is obviously illegal.
Your comments are the height of ankle-biting. You'll do anything to seem superior including willing blindness.
I am.
