DEM REP. TELLS RUSSIAN MEDIA: U.S. IS ‘BANANA REPUBLIC’ WITHOUT WEALTH REDISTRIBUTION
Without more redistribution of wealth, the United States of America is on the road to becoming a “banana republic,” warns Rep. Jan Schakowsky, D-Ill.
In an interview with Russia Today, Congresswoman Schakowsky claims that the American middle class is disappearing because the federal government is failing to effectively redistribute wealth. Among her top concerns: extending Bush-era tax cuts for all income levels:
Correct me if I’m wrong, but don’t “banana republics” tend to be found in parts of the world where government become too involved — whether voluntarily or by force? And isn’t free enterprise one of the best ways to deter such concentrated government power?
But Schakowsky‘s is the mindset of many Democrats today who believe redistributing the nation’s wealth is the only way to maintain a middle class, despite history’s lessons to the contrary.
At the same time, Russia Today offers this report, claiming that the American Dream is dead:
Below is a brief CV of Rep. Jan Schakowsky, D-Ill:
Shakowsky was Program Director of Illinois Public Action, Illinois’ largest public interest group, from 1976 to 1985. On March 11, 2004, Schakowsky’s husband, lobbyist Robert Creamer, the executive director of the Illinois Public Action Fund, was indicted in federal court on 16 counts of bank fraud involving three alleged check-kiting schemes in the mid-1990s, leading several banks to experience shortfalls of at least $2.3 million
Pure Banana Republic Politics. What a hypocrite. How ….Progressive
Wealth creation is what keeps countries from becoming Banana Republics, not wealth redistribution. Instead of encouraging people to work create things and be proud of who they are, the Progressives-Democrats-Leftists have worked hard to create a failing educational system, an angry work force, an anti business sentiment and a welfare system that puts no demands on the recipients even to the degree of not requiring them to be drug free.
Ms. Schakowsky has it backwards. You have a Banana Republic when the population expects the government to take care of their needs and feel no responsibility for themselves. But, that's fine with the left because it justifies their existence and they feel just so superior by spending other people's money for their pet projects. The larger the pool of poor the more important they feel. Even if they created the poverty in the first place. Can you say encouraging illegal immigration.
Why does she feel it necessary to explain us to the Russians given their history? Perhaps she just misses the USSR? She represents the depth of communist ideology rampant on the left in this country. Putin must be laughing himself silly knowing exactly where this kind of dictatorship by the proletariat leads.
