Jordan 'uncovers al-Qaeda plot'
The authorities in Jordan say they have arrested 11 militants alleged to have planned attacks on Western diplomats and shopping centres in the capital.
Officials said the plot had been in preparation since June, using smuggled weapons brought in from Syria.
The targets included "shopping centres, residential areas, diplomats and foreign nationals".
And the plotters had "had planned to bring TNT explosives and mortar shells from Syria", news agency Petra said.
Jordan announced this week that it intended to set up a new camp at Marajeeb al-Fahood, east of the capital, Amman, for those fleeing the violence in neighbouring Syria.
