The Hoddie: badge of crime.

WATCH: Man fights for life after Brooklyn deli shooting

An elderly man is fighting for his life after four thugs shot him at point-blank range outside a Brooklyn deli, police said.
The 60-year-old victim made a purchase from the service window of a Prospect Lefferts Garden deli on Lincoln Road near Flatbush Avenue about 2:40 a.m. Friday, cops said.
As he started to leave, one suspect shot him in the head, while the others ran from the scene, authorities said.
The man was listed in critical condition at Kings County Hospital.
Police are on the hunt for his attackers.
The gunman is in his late twenties, and has a beard and mustache, cops said. He wore a black and gray striped hooded sweatshirt.
A man with him wore an Adidas shirt and had black and w.hite sneakers, while another sported a black and red lumberjack jacket. The fourth assailant was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, police said.

Crime causes poverty not just because it drives business away. But, also because it costs public institutions like hospitals enourmous sums to treat victims. How much misery did these thugs create for the man victimized and his family. This crime shows why "stop and frisk" is important to save lives. More lives have been saved by this procedure then ineffective gun laws on law abiding citizens. Remember the NYC murder rate during the Dinkins Administration.
