And now for an update on the loony lovelife of Rep. Alan Grayson

This seems fit to send you off for a lovely weekend.

It’s been a rough year or so for Rep. Alan Grayson (D-Fla.), brash liberal, nasty rhetorician, and one of the richest members of Congress. He was bilked out of millions of dollars…for the second time. He was dressed down by Martin Bashir, of all people, for his signature civility— a fundraising e-mail that made the T in “Tea Party” out of a burning cross.

His estranged wife, Lolita Grayson, accused him of domestic abuse. No charges were filed, but she was granted a restraining order against him, according to AP reporting.

And, now their already contentious divorce has taken a turn for the truly bizarre. Take it away, AP:

Breast implant leak delays congressman’s wife’s bigamy trial 

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — A trial to determine whether U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson’s wife committed bigamy when she wed the congressman has been delayed because she required emergency surgery to remove breast implants.

The trial had been scheduled for Thursday in Orlando but is now set for March.

Lolita Grayson had been suffering chest pains. When she went to a hospital to get checked out, she was told she needed emergency surgery to remove the leaking implants and scar tissue, according to court papers filed this week.

The surgery was Monday.

“Due to this medical emergency, wife is unable to prepare for or attend the trial,” her attorney, Mercedes Wechsler, said in a court filing.

Grayson claims his wife never divorced her first husband before marrying him. Grayson, once described by the Washington Post as a “Harvard graduate with a soft voice” driven unwillingly to harsh rhetoric by the Tea Party’s antics, has a lawyer who is keeping it characteristically classy: 

“Of course, if she has a true medical complication, we want her to take care of it,” NeJame said. “It is ironic that in all the decades she has had the implants, on the very eve of a hearing in which there is a chance this purported marriage will be invalidated, that this issue surfaces.”

He’s so lucky he’s a Democrat. Already, I’ve noticed the bigamy allegations/breast implant story about Lolita Grayson getting much more press interest than the story of Alan Grayson’s alleged domestic abuse. They have four kids. I’m praying for them. That is not snark. This is rough, whether it’s in the national press or not.
