Eric Garner’s teen son arrested after riding stolen Citi Bike: sources
Eric Garner’s teenage son was arrested in the Meatpacking District while riding a stolen Citi Bike, police sources said Wednesday.
Emery Snipes, 16, was busted in a playground at Hudson and Gansevoort streets in Manhattan around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday and issued a desk appearance ticket for criminal possession of stolen property, being in the park after hours and for a traffic violation, sources said.
Garner died after a police officer put an arm around his neck taking him to the ground during an arrest July 17, 2014, in Staten Island. Critics called it an illegal chokehold, and the case garnered national attention. Garner was being arrested for selling loose cigarettes at the time.
A grand jury declined to indict the officer who took down Garner. A federal inquiry is ongoing.
