Flash mob crime...usual suspects

ROSLINDALE (CBS) – Flash mobs are usually fun, especially for those who don’t see it coming.
Unfortunately for Gloria Mantas, she became the victim of a flash mobrobbery over the weekend.
Mantas was working at her convenience store gas station on Washington Street early Sunday morning when about 25 teenagers suddenly came in at once just after midnight.
They started grabbing drinks, candy, ice cream and anything they could get their hands on. Then, in less than a minute, they all left at once – without paying for anything.
Mantas was too overwhelmed by the crowd to stop them. She called police and they’re looking into what happened, but there have been no arrests.
No one was hurt in the incident, which frightened Mantas and caught her completely off guard.
“I just want their parents to know, if they know, what the kids did that night.  Do they know?  It’s sad to see this happening at that age.  They were teenagers, 14, 15 years old, 16 maximum,” she told WBZ-TV Tuesday.
“I don’t care about the money, I don’t care about the candy… I (just want) somebody to come over here and tell me, ‘We’re sorry we did this to you.'”
Mantas said she heard the kids may have come from a party in the area that night.
Vicki Mantas, Gloria’s daughter, is angered by the group’s actions.
“I am really really upset. That is total unacceptable and something should be done about it,” she said. “It’s not right. It’s stealing. Stealing is a crime and there are consequences. Where are the parents? Do you know where your kids are. I’m really upset and I’m just glad nothing happened to my mother.”
Customers were also upset by the incident.
“They should bring everything back that they took from the store and owe her a deep, sincere apology,” customer James Earl Jones said.
