Two men have been arrested after a shootout in the parking lot of Walgreens along Murfreesboro Pike.
Dequane Easley, 21, and Khamis Yugusuk, 20, were arrested in a situation that Metro Police said stemmed from the sale of a pistol and Xanax bars outside Walgreens.
Police said Easley and Yugusuk and another person, Aspen Williams, 19, arrived in a Dodge Magnum to purchase a pistol and Xanax from Kendall McCarty, 21, and Carlos Waters, 22, who were traveling in a Honda.
Detectives were told that the transaction was being held inside the Magnum when Yugusuk pulled a gun on McCarty, told her to get out and began firing, striking McCarty is the upper left leg. She went down in the parking lot.
Waters then allegedly opened fire on the Magnum, saying that he thought his and McCarty's lives were in jeopardy. The Magnum fled and Waters loaded McCarty in the Honda and drove her to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Police said the Magnum showed up at the VA hospital near Vanderbilt a short time later. Williams was suffering from a critical gunshot wound in her abdomen. VA police detained Easley and Yugusuk while Williams was taken to the E.R.
Easley is charged with two counts of aggravated assault, marijuana possession for resale, two counts of unlawful gun possession by a convicted felon, and two counts of violating the Crooks with Guns statute. Easley is being held in lieu of $100,000 bond.
Yugusuk is charged with two counts of felony aggravated assault. He is being held in lieu of $75,000 bond.
