A 42-year-old white man was smacked in the nose with an umbrella in Midtown by a stranger who called him a “white cracker” and then asked him why he was with a “female of color,” police sources said.
It was the second assault where the same anti-white statement was used in three days.
The attack happened at about 3 a.m. Sunday at 234 W. 33rd St. near Penn Station when Tony Brimfield, 42, approached the white man who was with his girlfriend, whose race was not known, and questioned why the two were together.
Brimfield allegedly hit the victim in the nose with his umbrella, leaving him bloody.
Amtrak Police arrested Brimfield, the sources said. He was charged with assault as a hate crime.
A couple walking on the Upper West Side on Friday also had two men assault them in a bias attack.
One of the suspects yelled, ”F−−−ing white cracker!” before spitting in the man’s face, and his cohort then smashed the victim with a skateboard, cops said.
The victim, 61, was walking with his 54-year-old wife near the corner of West End Avenue and West 77th Street around 6:30 p.m. when the incident unfolded.
One of the thugs pushed the wife to the ground when she tried to help her husband, and the male victim had his coat swiped before the creeps fled. The suspects were described as black or Hispanic.
