The 77-year-old said the £1.49 meal budget was not an excuse for ‘inedible’ meals
In a column for The Oldie magazine, she blasted a budget of £1.49 per meal but went on to say: “That’s not an excuse for inedible meals.”
Prue, a former judge on BBC Two’s Great British Menu, said: “Health ministers, doctors and administrators need to be convinced that good food is medicine.”
“”If they believed that healthy food would lead to faster healing, that the pleasure of a good meal would cheer their patients up, that the Holy Grail of fewer bed nights was attainable, I bet they’d find the money for better quality ingredients, better training, closer kitchens.”
She added that if bosses believed healthy food meant faster healing, happier patients and fewer bed nights, “I bet they’d find the money.”
