Harvard minorities post fake deportation notices in dorms

Several Harvard University groups came together to distribute fake deportation warnings to undergraduate students in their dorms. The forms were purported to be from the non-existent “Harvard Special Investigations Unit.”
The form said “We regret to inform you that a resident of this dorm has been detained indefinitely due to suspicious actions, suspected violent inclinations, or suspicion of being a deportable alien (i.e. questionable residency status.)”
Students would had to have viewed the back of the form to confirm it was fictitious. The goal of the prank was to unsettle students and force them to reflect on the very real fear families have of being deported.
The phony flyers were created and distributed by the Harvard Palestine Solidarity Committee, the Harvard Concilio Latino, the Harvard Islamic Society, and the Harvard Black Students Association. Two of the organizations have apologized after causing widespread outrage.
