Family of man accused of murdering Jews will get $3K a month from US-funded Palestinian Authority
The family of Omar al-Abed, who Israeli authorities say went into the home of a Jewish family in Israel Friday and stabbed three family members to death, will receive a monthly payment from the Palestinian Authority for killing Jews.
Tablet’s Liel Leibovitz reported that al-Abed, who was wounded after the Salomon family’s neighbor shot him several times and was subsequently captured by Israeli authorities, has earned his family more than $3,000 a month for his actions.
Furthermore, according to Tablet, the Palestinian Authority will pay the al-Abed family this money for carrying out terrorist acts with the help of American taxpayers:
As the [Salomon] family buries its dead — the community spent the day helping out by washing the blood of Yosef, Chaya, and Elad from the kitchen and the living room, and counseling those who had watched their loved ones slaughtered — the al-Abed family will enjoy a generous payday, courtesy of the Palestinian Authority, which uses the money it receives from, among other sources, American taxpayers to handsomely compensate the killers of Jews. Because the payment is commensurate with the length of the terrorist’s jail sentence, and because the sentence grows heftier the more Jews the terrorist kills, the al-Abeds will be richly rewarded for Omar’s murderous spree: the monthly salary paid to the families of those sentenced to 30 years or more in prison is $3,120. Just for comparison, an average Palestinian engineer earns about $1,300 per month.
The Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs highlighted in the Palestinian Authority’s Ministry of Finance’s budget that terrorists are paid monthly salaries based on how many Jewish people they kill during an attack. Al-Abed, who killed three Jews, will receive 10 years for each Salomon family member he killed, and his family will receive a monthly salary of over $3,000.
According to Palestinian Media Watch, these payments are shelled out from the Palestinian Authority’s “general salary budget,” alongside civil servants and members of the Palestinian military. In fact, the P.A. pays them more than the typical civil service worker, who earns less than $28 a day, as highlighted by the Palestinian Bureau of Statistics.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu highlighted the practice of the P.A.’s incentivizing terror in his famous 2016 speech to the U.N. General Assembly, telling the hypothetical story of a boy encouraged to kill Jewish people via the P.A.
“Over dinner, Ali asks his mother what would happen if he killed a Jew and went to an Israeli prison. Here’s what she tells him,” Netanyahu said. “She tells him he’d be paid thousands of dollars each month by the Palestinian Authority. In fact, she tells him, the more Jews he would kill, the more money he’d get. Oh, and when he gets out of prison, Ali would be guaranteed a job with the Palestinian Authority.”
Netanyahu’s words about being guaranteed a job are also true. According to the JCPA, once al-Abed is released from his 30 plus years in prison, he will be made given the high ranking position of “minister.”
Salaries like al-Abed’s will be paid for with help from American taxpayers. Fox News reported that the United States has given the Palestinian Authority millions in aid, including $133 million in 2016.
According to Jibril Rajoub, secretary general of the P.A.’s Fatah Central Committee, the P.A. has a duty to give money to families of terrorists who die or are jailed for the act of killing Jews.
“We have a system, a social responsibility to the families of prisoners, no matter why he is in jail,” Rajoub said during a New York City meeting of the Israel Policy Forum.
