REVEALED: Nancy Pelosi’s Father Dedicated Confederate Statues to Robert E. Lee & ‘Stonewall’ Jackson (VIDEO)
In recent days, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi has publicly supported the removal of Confederate statues around the U.S. As it turns out, the Pelosi family wasn’t always against the statues. On Monday, Ron Meyer of Red Alert Politics dropped a little truth bomb on Fox News viewers, revealing Nancy Pelosi’s father helped dedicate Confederate statues to Robert E. Lee and ‘Stonewall’ Jackson.
Will Pelosi disavow?
Red Alert Politics reports:
Ron Meyer, Editor of Red Alert Politics, responded this morning on a debate for Fox and Friends First:“Those statues are right where Nancy Pelosi left them when she was Speaker of the House…“The truth is, the Democrats have a pretty poor history on Civil Rights, including Nancy Pelosi’s own father who was the Mayor of Baltimore — and was one of the people who dedicated statues to Robert E. Lee and ‘Stonewall’ Jackson, and in his speech said that they defended ‘sacred institutions.’ What are those ‘sacred institutions’? One of them is slavery.“And the truth is, the Democrat Party has a history of opposing Civil Rights, favoring Jim Crow laws, and also defended slavery back when the Civil War happened.”
Recently, Pelosi branded Confederate monuments as reprehensible and called on Speaker Paul Ryan to join her in removing them.
AP reports:
Pelosi asked Ryan to join Democrats in supporting legislation to remove the Confederate statues. The legislation can’t pass without support from Republicans, who control both chambers of Congress.Pelosi said the statues in the Capitol should “embody our highest ideals as Americans, expressing who we are and who we aspire to be as a nation.”Pelosi’s challenge came after violence during a rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, stoked calls to remove Confederate statues everywhere. About 10 statues in the Capitol’s Statuary Hall are of men who served as Confederate soldiers or politicians.“The Confederate statues in the halls of Congress have always been reprehensible,” Pelosi said in a statement issued late last week. “If Republicans are serious about rejecting white supremacy, I call upon Speaker Ryan to join Democrats to remove the Confederate statues from the Capitol immediately.”Ryan spokesman Doug Andres responded by defending the right of each state to place two statues of its choosing in the Capitol’s National Statuary Hall.
