Berkeley police say they found nearly 700 pounds of psilocybin mushrooms at a house in Berkeley.

Berkeley police responding to a call about a bickering couple said Monday they found nearly 700 pounds of psilocybin “magic” mushrooms with a street value of $1 million in the house, alongside a massive cultivation and sales operation of the illegal drugs.

“I’ve been a cop for 17 years, and it’s very rare to see mushrooms in this quantity,” said Sgt. Andrew Frankel, spokesman for the Berkeley Police Department.

Police went to the home in the 1700 block of Alcatraz Avenue at 10 p.m. Saturday after receiving a call about a domestic disturbance.
