'GOD AND SECOND AMENDMENT' SAVED RICHARD CHILDRESS FROM HOME BREAK-IN ATTEMPT

3 would-be burglars tried to break into the 72-year-old's home

DECEMBER 22, 2017
According to a press release sent out by the Davidson County Sherriff’s Office in North Carolina, the masked suspects broke into Childress’ home around 10:25 p.m. The Hall of Famer heard a crash at a door on the lower level of his home, prompting him to grab a handgun and investigate.
He fired three shots in the direction of the suspects.
A window beside a doorknob on the lower level of the home was broken, activating the alarm. Sherriff David Grice said items of evidence have been collected for DNA. The suspects were not believed to have been injured.
Childress was named the second vice president of the NRA back in 2015. Childress told Grice in the release, "The only reason he and his wife were here today was because of God and the Second Amendment.” Childress has also offered a $10,000 award for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of those involved.
