Leftist privilege: snark and insult

Melania Trump slams Food Network host John Henson’s comments about Barron

First lady Melania Trump blasted a Food Network host’s “inappropriate and insensitive” comments on Father’s Day questioning whether President Trump is 14-year-old son Barron’s dad.
“Sadly we continue to see inappropriate and insensitive comments about the President’s son,” said Stephanie Grisham, chief of staff and spokeswoman for the first lady, in a statement to The Hill on Tuesday.
“As with every other administration, a minor child should be off-limits and allowed to grow up with no judgment or hate from strangers and the media,” the statement continued.
John Henson, who hosts the Food Network’s “Halloween Baking Championship,” tweeted about Barron on Sunday.
“I hope Barron gets to spend today with whoever his dad is,” he said in a post.
Following backlash from Twitter users on Sunday, Henson tried to walk back his comments.
“The joke was aimed at Trump and the mere mention of Barron’s name doesn’t mean it’s at his expense,” he wrote. “Although I respect your right to take issue with it.”
The first lady has taken issue with people talking publicly about Barron before.
In December, she admonished Stanford Law professor Pamela Karlan, who brought up Barron’s name during her House impeachment testimony.

“The Constitution says there can be no titles of nobility, so while the president can name his son Barron, he can’t make him a baron,” she said Dec. 5.
“A minor child deserves privacy and should be kept out of politics,” she wrote. “Pamela Karlan, you should be ashamed of your very angry and obviously biased public pandering, and using a child to do it.”
Karlan later apologized.
