Black shirts in the streets of Manhattan

Hundreds of Antifa protesters march through Manhattan

Hundreds of Antifa protesters, some carrying shields, marched through Midtown Manhattan over the weekend — chanting “Burn it down” as they passed an NYPD substation, according to law enforcement sources.

The group marched from Central Park down to Madison Square Park on Sunday, led by about two dozen members carrying shields and wearing helmets, sources said.

“Burn it down,” the group chanted as they passed an NYPD substation in Times Square, according to sources.

Despite the heavy gear and menacing statement, there were no reports of violence, and no arrests were made, authorities said.

Antifa — a loose collective of left-wing activists whose name is an abbreviation of “anti-fascist” — took to the streets less than a week after hordes of supporters of President Trump stormed the US Capitol in an attempt to prevent the certification of the 2020 election results in favor of Joe Biden.

That riot left five people dead, including a Capitol Police officer.
