Illegal alien charged with randomly slashing Florida couple's throats as they rode bikes home NEWS

An illegal immigrant has been charged in the gruesome stabbing deathsof a married couple in Daytona Beach, Florida.

What are the details?

The horrifying murders of 48-year-old Terry Aultman and 55-year-old Brenda Aultman shocked the local community earlier this month. The husband and wife had been riding their bicycles back home from the city's Bike Week festivities when they were attacked, seemingly at random.

On Sunday morning, March 7, a bystander discovered their bloodied bodies on the side of the road; their throats were slashed and they had multiple stab wounds. The local police chief called it "one of the most vicious and gruesome incidents" he had ever witnessed.

A few days later, police released photos and a video of a person of interest in the murder and asked the community to come forward with information.

Since then, authorities in Volusia County have identified, arrested, and charged their suspect, WOFL-TV reported. He is 32-year-old Jean Robert Macean of Orlando.

According to inmate records, Macean is being held without bond in the Volusia County Jail on two charges of first-degree murder and an additional charge of "illegal immigrant/alien."

Police previously reported that Macean is from Haiti. However, further details about his citizenship or resident status remain unclear.

What else?

WESH-TV reported that Macean was arrested at his Orlando apartment last Thursday following an intense manhunt. He reportedly confessed to the murders during interviews with police.

Authorities claimed that more than 100 tips came in just one day after Daytona Beach Police announced a $50,000 reward for his capture. They maintain that the crime was a random act of violence. Macean allegedly did not know the victims, and investigators have not assigned any motive for the crimes.

Daytona Beach Police Chief Jakari Young said in a press conference after Macean's arrest that the heinous crimes are yet another example of the "evil" in the world.

Brenda Aultman's daughter called Macean a "monster" and added that her mother was her best friend. She previously described her mother and her husband as a beautiful, fun, loving couple.

The Aultmans had just moved to the residential beachside area six months prior and were reportedly extremely happy just enjoying life together.

"They walked to the beach every day. It was like their dream house. They bought bicycles. They just bought a Jeep. They were loving it. They loved the neighborhood," a neighbor recalled.
