Chicago police are left shaken after two officers were shot in the same neighborhood in less than a WEEK as rising crime continues to plague the Windy City

  • On June 5, an unidentified officer was shot in the arm and chest after conducting a traffic stop along with two other officers
  • The suspect, who remains on the run, opened fire after pulling over in an alley
  • The shooting took place in the neighborhood of Edgewood in Chicago's South Side
  • Another similar shooting took place in the same area of the city on June 1
  • Officer Fernanda Ballesteros was shot when a suspect opened fire on her after a traffic stop
  • She sustained a non-life threatening injury to the shoulder and went to the hospital before her release on Monday
  • An officer with the U.S. Marshals Service’s fugitive apprehension team and his police dog were also shot Thursday
  • They were serving a warrant in the city’s Northwest Side before the shooting
