BREAKING NEWS: Off-duty veteran NYPD cop is critically ill with fractured skull and brain bleed after being mugged by THREE men during his morning jog in the Bronx

• A 48-year-old veteran police officer is fighting for his life after being mugged and left for dead in the Bronx while on his morning run
• The unnamed officer, an 18-year veteran assigned to the Central Park precinct, was found lying on the sidewalk bleeding from his ear
• He told the responding officer - who was unaware that he was also NYPD - that he was mugged by three black men who fled the scene
