Europeans are talking about banning naked short selling because of the problems they were having in their markets. The SEC banned naked short selling on September 18, 2008 and things didn't work out so well with the S&P 500 losing 33% of its value in the course of a couple of months. How stupid do you have to be to become an elected official?
