If China wanted a railroad across the isthmus why wouldn’t they just expand the existing Panama rail, It’s half the length and would not need to cut through the jungle. A rail line such as that would be open to attack at every mile post, while the canal is only vulnerable at the locks where they can be defended.
Why would China even look at such a project? Maybe as a threat to the Panamanian government that will get them even more control of the canal..??
