Mike Pouncey and Maurkice Pouncey show their support for former Florida teammate and accused murderer Aaron Hernandez.
Not everyone is deserting Aaron Hernandez.
The former Patriots tight end sat in his jail cell Saturday night while twin brothers Mike and Maurkice Pouncey, who played with Hernandez at the University of Florida, wore hats ostensibly stitched with the words “Free Hernandez” at a birthday party in Miami.
Several photos of the brothers appeared on social media web sites Sunday.
The Pounceys have been linked to Hernandez’s off-field activities as police continue to probe Hernandez’s past for clues relating to current murder charges he faces. In 2007, the Gainesville (Fla.) Police Department mentioned the Pounceys in a report after investigating a double shooting. Police wanted to speak with Hernandez about the shooting but he invoked his right to have an attorney present. No charges were ever filed.
