Dictators stick together especially when it involves the US

Mugabe: "Zimbabwe is mine"

Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe. The ever-defiant Zimbabwean president says “Zimbabwe is mine” and no African nation can dare remove him from power except Zimbabweans. Robert Mugabe - in power for nearly three decades - also vowed that he will never surrender to opposition party's leader Morgan Tsvangirai's calls to step down, as he has threatened to quit the stalled unity government talks. "I will never, never, never, never surrender. Zimbabwe is mine, I am a Zimbabwean. Zimbabwe for Zimbabweans. Zimbabwe never for the British," AFP quoted Mugabe as telling members of his ZANU-PF party's annual conference, with loud cheers of support. Mugabe, in this former British colony, said he would stay until his people make up their minds to change him. His defiance came as the top US envoy to Africa called for the "person who has ruined the country" to step down. President George W. Bush, British Prime Minister Gordon Brown and French President Nicolas Sarkozy have called for Mugabe to step down. Amid ruinous political crisis, mounting criticism and a deadly cholera epidemic, the 84-year-old president has pushed thousand of Zimbabweans to the point of starvation and left 1,123 dead in cholera since last August. Mugabe reiterated his charges that the European Union, former colonizer Britain and the United States were exaggerating the cholera epidemic to force regime change. Meanwhile, Venezuela's President Hugo Chavez spoke out in support of Mugabe on Friday, and Venezuela's Foreign Ministry said the health emergency should not be used by other countries to "politically destabilize" Zimbabwe's government.(emphasis mine) Zimbabwe once had one of the best health care systems in sub-Saharan Africa. Today, most of its hospitals have been forced to close because they cannot afford medicine, equipment or wages. Zimbabwe once exported food. Now the hungry scrounge for corn kernels spilled on the way to market.

Venezuela is becoming Zimbabwe so naturally Chavez has to support Mugabe. Central planning and thugs always leave the population poorer. Move over Che, soon there will be T shirts with the beloved socialist and murderer in chief Robert Mugabe. I wonder what the Rev. Jeremiah Wright thinks about old Bob?

  1. This for sure is common sense, however on Planet Earth there common sense is rare. Hyperinflation and countries with problems are easy targets for Chavez and he can use his oil money to manipulate Thanks from Andy of HoboTraveler.com in Guatemala Travel Blog and Hotels
