A Sign Israel Is Going to Attack Iran?

This is an interesting development. IDF Chief of Staff Gabi Ashkenazi had been requesting that his 4 year term as Chief of Staff, due to end February 2011, be extended by another year "in light of the threats Israel currently faces." Well Defense Minister Ehud Barak, with the support of Bibi, just notified Ashkenazi that his term will not be extended. Why is this important at all? Ashkenazi was one of the main cheerleaders for a deal for Gilad Schalit, which would have freed a thousand terrorists from Israeli jails, was overly cautious in Gaza, and if I remember correctly, was one of the main figures in the IDF establishment who was against attacking Iranian nuclear facilities. So I view this as very good news, as Israel seems like it is going to stand up for itself with regards to both Iran and Obama. By the way, if you want more background on Ashkenazi, Caroline Glick had a scathing piece on him in December.
