NBC Set to Hire NPR Retread Vivian Schiller
Former National Public Radio president and CEO Vivian Schiller, who resigned in March after video surfaced showing an NPR fundraiser making disparaging remarks about Republicans and the Tea Party, is apparently returning to the news business.
According to Peter Kafka of Forbes.com, Schiller is in negotiations to join NBC where she would be in charge of digital projects:
People familiar with the company say Schiller, who once ran the New York Times’ Web site, will report to NBC News chief Steve Capus. Both Schiller and NBC declined to comment.
NBC will be taking a risk in hiring Schiller, based on the circumstances under which she left NPR, but considering her liberal credentials she is a perfect fit for the network.
