Michelle Obama “really needs” CodePink
Missed by all but one of the mainstream media: Michelle Obama “really needs” CodePink.
During a fund raising trip to the Bay Area on March 30, the First Lady told CodePink co-founders to “keep up the good work”. Obama’s congratulations were reported only by the San Francisco Chronicle.
“First Lady Michelle Obama, accepting an anti-war petition at a fundraiser in San Francisco last week, told the CodePink member who presented her with 20,000 signatures, “Keep up the great work,” the organization’s co-founders say. (San Francisco Chronicle, April 4, 2012).
“CodePink co-founder Medea Benjamin wrote a blogpost today about the First Lady’s visit. In it, she related she said what happened behind the scenes when Kristin Hall, a CodePink supporter—one who paid to get into the $500 a head fundraiser—personally met up with Michelle Obama at the California Academy of Sciences last Friday.
“After Hull handed Mrs. Obama a petition urging peacekeeping not war with Iran—a document signed by luminaries like Gloria Steinem, Alice Walker and Eve Ensler—Mrs. Obama thanked Hull for her advocacy and said, “Keep up the great work,” writes Benjamin. “As Hull was walking away after her photo with the First Lady, Michelle Obama grabbed her hand, squeezed it and said, “We really need you.” (Italics CFP’s).
As Move America Forward leader Melanie Morgan points out: “Benjamin personally delivered $600,000 to the families of terrorists in Fallujah who killed our soldiers.”
The hypocrisy of Obama and the anti-war activists could have been framed during the prelude to Holy Week 2012.
Within days of Michelle Obama’s “We really need you” message to CodePink, theWhite House gave USD 1.5 billion in foreign aid to Egypt, releasing it to representatives of the Muslim Brotherhood who were visiting Washington.
“We believe it is in the interest of the United States to engage with all parties in Egypt and to continue to engage with Egypt, because Egypt has been an important ally of the United States and has played a significant role in the region,” White House spokesman Jay Carney told reporters.” (Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), April 4, 2012).
Earth to Michelle and CodePink: The United States gives Egypt USD 1.5 billion in military aid annually that must be spent on U.S. made weapons and goods, including M1A1 tanks and F-16 fighter jets.
To Michelle, and bare breasted Code Pink activists who recently conducted a “Breasts not Bombs” protest, WMD are not WMD unless they carry the name of George Bush on them. War is only war if it’s in Iraq.
There were no “Breasts not Bombs” protests or cries of outrage when those peacekeepers the Muslim Brotherhood left Washington last week with $1.5 billion for M1A1 tanks and F-16 fighter jets.
The hypocrisy of CodePink and their cheerleader Michelle Obama knows no bounds.
Says Morgan: “The First Lady has worked on military troop support in public, but appears to have a different take when the cameras aren’t on her.”
