How many Democrat/Progressives have to threaten your free sppech before you get the message

Elena Kagan is no supporter of free speech having written that the government is the final arbiter of what should be allowed. Remember when the left shouted for complete free speech well now that they're in power it's only speech they approve of that should be allowed. It was political speech the Constitution sought to protect. But, people like Kagan would probably deny Tom Paine the right to pamphlet. When everything comes from the government you wind up with nothing. How long before you will only be able to disagree with the government in hushed tones in places you don't think are bugged.

Phoenix Mayor Gordon Blames Lack of 'Fairness' Doctrine for Arizona Immigration Law's Passage
By Seton Motley

Los LocosYet another liberal [2] bemoans the unbridled free speech that resulted from President Ronald Reagan's 1987 call to no longer enforce the so-called "Fairness" Doctrine.
This time it's Phoenix, Arizona Democratic Mayor Phil Gordon. (He is not the Phil Gordon [3] who plays poker. The latter seeks to relieve you only of your money, not of your First Amendment rights.)

Mayor Censor participated in a May 14 panel discussion put together by the George Soros-funded, John Podesta-run, Marxist Van Jones permanent job place-holding [4] Center for American Progress entitled "When Federal Government Failure Leads to Local Upheaval-Arizona and Beyond [5]."

At which Mayor Censor designated the absence of the mis-named "Fairness" Doctrine and the free market radio choices made by the American people that resulted as in part contributing to the passage of Arizona law 1070, which calls on state law enforcement officers to enforce federal immigration laws.

Says Mayor Censor:
"I think it goes back to the Reagan era when the fairness doctrine was dropped, and instead of requiring both sides of a debate to be aired, only one side was given the chance depending on who was providing that."

Apparently, Mayor Censor failed to note the coverage of 1070 by the uber-liberal traditional media, with their 12-to-1 disparity [6] in negatively reporting on the bill and law.
It seems to me the Leftist Jurassic Press serves as the perfect counterbalance to the conservative talk radio over which Mayor Censor is singularly fussing.
Not to mention the fact that 70% of Arizonans [7] - and 60+% of all Americans [8] - disagree with Mayor Censor and the old media and like the law.
May Censor continued:

"But more importantly, language that was never acceptable became maintstream. Those that were deemed to be in disagreement with those on television or radio were demonized as traitors and extremists and hateful and language that we have never heard or seen.
"So it became acceptable in the mainstream media, it became acceptable in debates.

And as a result the wedge issue that came about as a result of the economy over the last four years immigration became front and center."
So here we are again with the liberal dread of "hate speech"- but only as purveyed by conservatives, of course.

Equine Ed Schultz maniacly screaming his head off about "Republicans want to see you dead - they'd rather make money off your dead corpse [8]" and those with whom he disagrees being "too stupid to read [8]" with ever increasing frequency, radio host Mike Malloy nearly incessantly asserting that conservatives and Republicans should "blow (their) brains out [8]," that they "need to be executed [8]" and that they "eat children's arms and legs for afternoon snacks [8]" - and Rachel Maddow telling Malloy how "we all love you for your dark thoughts [8]" - don't rate for Mayor Censor, apparently.
As is always the case, there is nothing more close-minded than the open-minded liberal. So if the American people get to choose what they want to hear, pretty soon they get to choose the laws they want to pass.

And Mayor Censor and the Left won't stand for any of that.
Best to first silence them with federal law - disingenuously named "Fairness" - else the will of the people will actually win the day.
