This is a dangerous proposal

Proposal Would Delay Hearings in Terror Cases

"Anthony Romero, the executive director of the American Civil Liberties Union, assailed the Obama administration for considering such ideas. He noted that the administration of President George W. Bush, which was heavily criticized by civil-liberties groups, never proposed such modifications to criminal procedures.
“It’s highly troubling that the Obama administration might propose to lengthen the time in which a potential defendant would come before a judge,” Mr. Romero said. “Both proposals would severely undercut the Obama administration’s assertion that they believe in the rule of law.” "

The Obama administration is upset that the Arizona law will ask illegals to "show their papers" but is proposing to take away basic rights from citizens...absurd. How long before these lefties decide that anyone that disagrees with them may be held as terrorists?

The Obama folks are recommending that we loosen up on Miranda warning requirement for terrorism cases. Regardless of the merits of this, imagine the outcry if President Bush had proposed this. I read quite a few newspapers and haven't come across an editorial outcry. Double standard? What do you think?

It's a sign of how disinterested the media is in truth and how they slavishly follow administration dictates.

The underlying cause in my mind is that they have been educated in a certain way and they no longer have the capacity of critcal thought.

Thanks Jerry. I agree that the quality and integrity of journalism have decayed, but I don't think this is why they have been mute on this issue. I think we all know what the press thought of Bush and how they worship Obama. I am convinced that they would react quite differently to each president if each committed the same offense. Indeed, Obama has continued all of the Bush national security policies, drone attacks, Gitmo, etc, which made the press apopleptic during Bush years. But, not now. The 4th branch of gov isn't exactly 'calling it like they see it'.
