Obama approves of the General Betrayus ad.

It’s become known that the spouse of Jesse Lee, the White House’s new Director of Progressive Media and Online Response, is closely tied to the infamous General Betrayus ad for MoveOn. And as usual, there is more to the story.

Lee is married to Nita Chaudary. Here is a CSPAN transcript from Sep. 10, 2007, wherein Chaudary represents — and ardently defends — MoveOn.org for publishing the Petraeus smear ad prior to Petraeus speaking a word before Congress.

The woman in question, Nita Chaudhary, was given preferred treatment at a White House State Dinner. I’ve never concerned myself too much with where Obama was, or wasn’t born. But the notion that one could be involved with undermining America’s then top General while our nation was at war and young American men and women were fighting and dying, only to later be treated with kid gloves at a State dinner at the White House, does leave an impression of an administration that is more than a bit un-American.

The media never stopped slamming Lee Atwater for the Willie Horton ad, or forget Bush’s connection to it. Funny how the General Betrayus ad coming when it did, during a time of war, must not amount to very much in their view.

I’m told that senior Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett quietly helped a fellow aide, White House online guru Jesse Lee, hatch a plan to propose to his Indian-American girlfriend at the glitzy state dinner festivities yesterday.

But, as so much else does in the White House, the plans went awry due to unforseen events and had to be hastily reworked on the spot.

When the state dinner honoring the prime minister of India was first announced, Lee quietly approached Jarrett and asked for her help in laying a plan to propose to his girlfriend at the dinner. The venue was particularly meaningful because Lee’s girlfriend, Nita Chaudhary, a top official at MoveOn, is from an esteemed Indian family that includes the former foreign secretary of India.
