Where is President Obama Today? Fundraising and Partying with Rich and Radicals
Hm. The White House usually emails a daily schedule for the president and vice president, which they send out in the morning. They sent one out yesterday, to tout the hanging of former President Bush’s official portrait. Fridays usually include a video wrap-up of the week just completed. But so far today, nada.
If and when the White House gets around to emailing the official schedule out, it will note that on the day that we learned unemployment has ticked back up to 8.2% and previous jobs numbers have been revised negatively, President Obama is not focused on the economy at all. His schedule would show that Obama is holding six fundraisers for his re-election campaign. And chances are, you can’t get in to see him.
The president will first address a group of 100 guests, each paying $5,000 a plate. He then will meet privately with two small roundtables of deep-pocket supporters – one group paying $40,000 per person; the other $50,000 per person, a campaign official said. (The $50k ticket price is the largest for any Obama fundraiser held since the start of the campaign.)
He’s a regular man of the people.
Well, he’s a man of radical people. The Daily Caller’s Matt Lewis picked up a flyer graphic for one of today’s lavish fundraisers. Check out who your president is partying with today.
On the heels of a depressing jobs report, Barack Obama is raising $5 million at fundraisers in Chicago this Friday – including one co-hosted by Marilyn Katz.
So who is Marilyn Katz? According to the New York Times, she’s the person who gave Obama “entry into another activist network: the foot soldiers of the white student and black power movements that helped define Chicago in the 1960s. As a leader of Students for a Democratic Society then, Ms. Katz organized Vietnam War protests, throwing nails in the street to thwart the police.”
The Chicago Tribute also noted that Katz, “once advocated throwing studded nails in front of police cars, back in the SDS days when the group was alleged to have thrown cellophane bags full of human excrement at cops and cans of urine and golf balls impaled with nails.” (emphases added)
