Even this liberal progressive is rankled by the "gay mafia"

Don’t cross the ‘gay mafia,’ warns Bill Maher

This funny man is gunning for the “gay mafia.”
Leave the gays alone or you may be next, according to one lefty comedian.
Bill Maher jabbed gay-rights activists for targeting the CEO of software firm Mozilla over a donation he once gave to a California initiative banning same-sex marriage.
“I think there is a gay mafia,” Maher said on Friday. “I think if you cross them, you do get whacked.”
Maher made the wisecrack on an online-only segment of his HBO show “Real Time” during an online segment during a discussion on Brendan Eich’s resignation.
Eich became head of software firm Mozilla’s CEO on March 24, but stepped down this month when employees rallied against him for donating to the Proposition 8 effort in 2008, which held that only marriage between a man and a woman should be valid or recognized in California.
“What do you think about the Mozilla CEO having to step down over his donation to a pro-Proposition 8 group?” Maher asked.
On the show, conservative columnist Carrie Sheffield said, “He gave it when President Obama was still against gay marriage, so I don’t think it’s very fair.”
“Good point,” Maher replied.
