How the "Broken windows" policing works

Gun found on man during public urination arrest: cops

Broken windows” policing got another gun and its owner off the streets.
An NYPD cop spotted a 28-year-old Brooklyn man urinating inside the Franklin Avenue subway station — and called him out for using the platform as a toilet, police said.
Officer Jacobo Rosario placed Lixence Exavier under arrest, and while frisking him, found a .45-caliber Smith and Wesson gun tucked away in his waistband. He also discovered nine bullets in Exavier’s pants pocket.
“This just proves that quality of life enforcement works at getting dangerous criminals off the streets of New York,” a law enforcement source said.
Exavier was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of stolen property and criminal trespass.
He’s been arrested twice for forgery and once for being an unlicensed operator.
