Yelp for government agencies...let the bottled up anger out.
How did Uncle Sam agree to this? Yelp, the Web site that lets users rate and review businesses, has made a deal with the feds to rate government agencies.
“It’s clear Washington is eager to engage with people directly through social media,” Yelp announced.
“Earlier this year, a group of lawmakers called for the creation of ‘Yelp for Government’ in order to boost transparency and accountability.”
The project aims to make agencies more responsive to the public.
Just to show how sweet this can be, Republican presidential candidate Carly Fiorina took the opportunity to rate the Transportation Security Administration.
Giving the TSA a one-star review (the lowest), she wrote: “The TSA spent $160 million of your taxpayer dollars on body scanners that have a 96 percent failure rate. . . It is part of a pattern that confirms . . . our government . . . has become too big, too powerful, and too corrupt to do its job.”
We look forward to reviews of the IRS and the Veterans Administration — and to the agencies’ efforts to respond.
Here’s hoping Yelp meets enough success with the project to expand it. We’d love to see boards commenting on every one of New York City’s public schools.
