"The amount of highly destructive materials that we found in this home were astonishing..."

A pair of parents called the police on their own daughter after they discovered a cache of pipe bombs that police claim could have killed thousands.
27-year-old Michelle Louise Kolts was arrested at her parents' home in Wimauma, Florida, on Friday.
Police say they discovered two dozen pipe bombs along with alarming literature about assassins, serial murderers, and domestic terrorism.
"The amount of highly destructive materials that we found in this home were astonishing," said Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister at a media briefing.
They found the pipes filled with nails and screws, which were likely meant to be used as shrapnel in the pipe bombs.
Police also found various other weapons including bows and arrows, nunchucks, 23 knives, and assorted pellet guns.
"If used, these bombs could have caused catastrophic damage and harm to hundreds, even thousands of people," said Chronister.
Police say she told them she planned to use the devices she made to "hurt people" when she was arrested.

If found guilty of the 24 counts of making a destructive device with intent to harm, Kolts faces up to fifteen years in prison.
The sheriff applauded the parents for what was likely a difficult decision.
"Thank God these parents called us," Chronister said.
"I could only imagine how difficult it is to call anyone in... but a loved one or family member?" he concluded. "You can appreciate the fact that these parents had the courage to call us."

Here's a local video of the arrest:
