Is there anything bigger than Barry’s ego? Take one look at the hulking monstrosity he calls a “Presidential Center,” and the answer is a resounding no. Nothing on earth is quite as big, ugly, or desperate to overshadow everything around it as Obama’s ego. And now, one contractor says that selfish, absurd monument to his own grandeur forced him to shut down his business and lay off 25 workers.
The bizarre-looking Obama Presidential Center opened with celebrities, fanfare, and carefully staged photos of a strange cinderblock monument to the former president.
But behind all that hoopla and Hollywood-style celebration is the sad story of one local subcontractor who actually helped build Barry’s concrete place. But he’s not celebrating anything, because he says the project left his company nearly $4 million in the hole. Obama’s center stiffed this American business owner, and he was forced to shut down operations and lay off 25 union workers.
Weeks after the Obama Presidential Center’s star-studded opening in Chicago, a subcontractor who previously claimed his company was stiffed for nearly $4 million has shut down operations and laid off 25 union workers.
Mike Owen, the owner of Chicago-based Adamson Plumbing Contractors, told Fox News Digital that the financial fallout forced the company to abandon about half a dozen other construction jobs and left it on the verge of collapse. Owen described the shutdown as a painful decision he believed was necessary to save the company from bankruptcy.
“Laying off close to 30 people is something that no owner in our industry wants to do,” Owen said. “It’s a hard thing to do, especially when you know you can finish them and the company can still make money. But we were put in a pretty bad corner.”
Sure, the grand opening may have looked like a victory lap for Barry. But for the people who did the actual work, it looked more like a wrecking ball and a nightmare they can’t wake up from.
And apparently, Adamson isn’t the only contractor who says Barry’s ego project destroyed their lives. Several subcontractors, including Black-owned companies the project was supposedly designed to “uplift,” say they’re owed anywhere from hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars. One is seeking more than $40 million.
So much for that “transformative economic opportunity,” right?

Several subcontractors, including Black-owned companies the project was supposedly designed to uplift, say they’re owed anywhere from hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars. One group alone is seeking more than $40 million.

Mike Owen has filed a $1.72 million LIEN against the property, rushing to get what he is owed.
A separate subcontractor (in video): “So many of our black contractors have NOT GOT THEIR MONEY! A lot of the black community do not know these people have not been paid!”
THIS IS A DISASTER.

While the elites were preparing to toast Barry’s giant monument to himself, Owen says his company was reaching the breaking point.

Before the center opened, Owen said the project had left his company with $3.9 million in losses tied to delays, rework, labor overruns and changing project demands. He said he spent months negotiating with Lakeside Alliance, the project’s construction manager, before going public after failing to reach a resolution.
Against the backdrop of that larger dispute, Owen said the breaking point came around the time of the Obama Presidential Center’s opening celebration.
Honestly, this is the most “Democrat Party” story imaginable.
The elites throw themselves this glamorous shindig, pat each other on the back, and preach about uplifting workers and minority-owned businesses. Then the regular people who did the actual work are left fighting for payment, closing their doors, and laying off employees.

It’s a modern-day “let them eat cake” moment for Obama and his pals, only this time the cake was served on a giant monument to Obama’s ego.
All words, no substance. Just promises, photo ops, and ordinary people left holding the bill. Gee, thanks a lot, Barry.
