Not True!

Those were the words mouthed by Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito during the SOTU last night. Once again Obama lied, this time about a Supreme Court decision, and also said something that made no constitutional sense (so much for being editor of the Harvard Law Review). He said:

Last week, the Supreme Court reversed a century of law to open the floodgates for special interests — including foreign corporations — to spend without limit in our elections. Well I don’t think American elections should be bankrolled by America’s most powerful interests, or worse, by foreign entities. They should be decided by the American people, and that’s why I’m urging Democrats and Republicans to pass a bill that helps to right this wrong.
As just about everyone knows the law the Supreme Court struck down parts of was McCain-Feingold, which is less than a decade old. The law against foreign entities donating in campaigns is much older and is still intact. The part that is really baffling is how can Republicans and Democrats pass a bill that overrules the Supreme Court? They can't especially when we are talking about a constitutional issue. I wish one of the Supremes had yelled out "You Lie!" That would have been something to behold.
