Hide the Decline

In the London Times piece posted below, one of the IPCC authors claims that even if there is no measured temperature rise can be inferred from other physical changes in the world such as Arctic icecap decline and sea level rise. Given the shenanigans played with the climate data I'm not sure how reliable any of this data is, but just for kicks here is a chart of sea level changes:

According to this chart, looking at the 3-yr avg line, the sea level has increased by about 8cm (or a little over 3in) since 1972. But, it also rose about the same amount during the cooling period from 1940-1972 (when all the predictions were for a new ice age). In fact, the slope of the moving average looks pretty constant to me for the entire 20th century. This would seem to indicate some cause other than global warming.

As for the Arctic icecap decline, there is great dispute about how much decline has occurred and more recent evidence shows it to be growing again. At the same time Antarctic ice cover has been increasing.  So pardon me if I'm not that impressed with the other 'evidence' of global warming.
