Mail theft is now a misdemeanor? Big deterrent!

JFK cargo handler busted for stealing US troops' mail

A cargo handler at Kennedy Airport was busted yesterday for stealing from packages meant for US troops and their families overseas, sources said.

Terrance A. Ralph, 41, of Brooklyn, was arrested wearing a $100 watch, a $300 bracelet and a $150 cell phone he’d stolen from the packages, said a source.

Postal inspectors got suspicious after receiving reports that packages were already opened when they arrived at a sorting facility in Germany.

They traced the opened packages back to a sorting facility at Kennedy Airport, said a spokeswoman for the Postal Inspection Service.

Inspectors put Ralph under surveillance, and arrested him on Wednesday afternoon at the sorting facility at Kennedy’s Building 250.

He’s charged in Queens Criminal Court with criminal possession of stolen property and petty larceny, both misdemeanors.
