Liberal privilege exposed. The entitlement to lie...for the good of the people, no doubt.
Police said Monday they couldn't confirm the gang rape of a University of Virginia student detailed in a Rolling Stone article actually occurred.
Charlottesville Police Chief Timothy Longo said the alleged victim, identified in the article as "Jackie," did not cooperate with law enforcement during the investigation and declined to provide any statements or information.
"That doesn't mean something terrible didn't happen to Jackie," Chief Longo said during a press conference Monday. "We're just not able to gather sufficient facts to determine what that is."
He added that the case has been suspended, not closed, and that the rape could have occurred despite police so far being unable to find evidence of it.
The Rolling Stone article that ran in November alleged that men at the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity raped Jackie in 2012. University President Teresa Sullivan responded by suspending all fraternity activities at the school while an investigation was conducted.
But discrepancies were found in the reporting that ultimately caused the magazine to retract the story. The Washington Post was the first to report that many, including some of Jackie's friends, disputed the events she described.
Rolling Stone announced that they would be conducting their own investigation, and have asked the Colombia School of Journalism to act as an independent examiner.
