The unhinged and angry social justice warriors at Sarah Lawrence college.
Some students at New York’s Sarah Lawrence College, ranked one of the most expensive private schools in the nation, demanded that fellow students pay campus activists for their “emotional labor,” the College Fix reported Wednesday.
A Facebook thread about both a python released by a student on campus and a popular tree scheduled for removal went viral among the students, according to the College Fix.
Soon, social justice warriors became angered that students were talking about trees and snakes and not social justice issues. The post then devolved into SJWs demanding money from other students, including some students called out by name to make payments.
SJW students facilitated the opportunity to make these payments by posting a link that was connected to 17 Venmo — a money exchange facilitation phone app — accounts, mostly belonging to female students of color.
“In honor of Women’s History Month, and the labor that women and femmes of color do for Sarah Lawrence every month of the year,” the post, which featured a picture of a poster with the words “Give your $ to Women & Femmes of Color” written in glitter, said.
The College Fix said the idea was inspired by the #GiveYourMoneyToWomen hashtag that was created on Twitter by prominent feminists.
SJWs first invaded the Facebook thread about the released snake after one student became frustrated that students were giving more attention to a snake than “systematic racism,” “sexual assaults,” and “anti-Muslim hate crimes.”
“The issue that people talked abt [sic] the snake+ tree extensively but completely ignored the hate crimes against black+ Muslim students earlier this year…there’s a v [sic] clear issue in priorities here and it needs to be addressed?? No one’s saying that everyone shld [sic] never talk abt [sic] the snake its just ridiculous that people can do that but can’t be bothered to say a word abt [sic] the racism very present on campus,” another student added.
According to the College Fix, the conversation about campus racism gained steam despite Sarah Lawrence College being considered one of the most tolerant and “progressive” in the nation. The Princeton Review even ranked it one of the most LGBTQ-friendly colleges in the nation.
Soon, the Venmo accounts were posted, along with demands that some women on campus be paid. Names were redacted by the College Fix.
“Also since W&FOC are still using our emotional labor to discuss this as nobody gives a s**t about the systemic problems at this school, give your $$$,” one poster wrote.
Two students in particular were highlighted as being worthy of being paid, with one student posting, “PAY THEM BOTH! SERIOUSLY EVERYONE PAY BOTH … NOW!”
Eventually, students began calling some out by name for their transgressions.
“A— A———, you are a F*****G. HORRIBLE. PERSON. B***H. I DON’T CARE ABOUT YOU. AT ALL. GOOD. I HOPE U [sic] CRY INTO UR [sic] PILLOW AT NIGHT LIKE Y’ALL MAKE WOMEN DO EVERYDAY. I HOPE U [sic] QUESTION UR [sic] REALITY AND I HOPE U [sic] CHECK BEHIND U [sic] WHEN U [sic] WALK PLACES”
The same poster added “please pay J—– and K—- for their labor, preferably over 30$ [sic]. The community is watching you and holding you accountable.”
Two students were tagged in particular, saying they should give up their money to the women, as their money didn’t belong to them.
“Pay up. Pay Money. Pay ur [sic] money. Ur [sic] money isn’t urs [sic]. You’re both a**holes. Pay K—- and J— at least $30,” said the poster.
The College Fix reported that the thread has now died off, and campus officials declined to comment on the issue.
