When the government gives you a bargain you get inhumane conditions. De Blasio sounds more like Maduro every day.
Federal housing bigwig Lynne Patton hit Staten Island on Friday to continue her five-borough tour of the city’s decrepit public housing stock — and her war of words with Mayor Bill de Blasio over NYCHA’s sorry state.
“What’s going on here is nothing short of a humanitarian crisis,” railed Patton, the regional director for US Department Housing and Urban Development, at the New Lane Houses. “It’s inhumane.”
Flanked by about 50 elderly residents, Patton also fired back at Hizzoner, who Thursday dismissed Patton’s claims that he has dragged his feet in naming a new NYCHA boss as “False! False! False!”
Replied Patton: “Methinks he doth protest too much.”
Joining Patton was Assemblymember Nicole Malliotakis, who ran against de Blasio for mayor in 2017.
“I will just say the mayor has the audacity of criticizing a woman who is going and doing the job he won’t do . . . speaking to the people who live here,” said Malliotakis. “He [de Blasio] should be here.”
City Hall waved off Patton’s comments as theatrics. “We’re not auditioning for Lynne Patton’s dream reality-TV show,” said mayoral spokeswoman Olivia Lapeyrolerie.
