Watch: Show Host Wrecks NYC DSA Co-Chair Over Radical Goals in Brutal Interview
The new platform of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) got a lot of attention this week.
The revision to the DSA platform, "Workers Deserve More," plans to abolish the Senate entirely and replace the president and Supreme Court with an executive branch and judiciary elected by and subordinate to Congress.
They also want to abolish Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), defund the Department of War, end deportations, ease restrictions on immigration control for migration between countries, and "extend full voting rights to people with criminal convictions and noncitizens."
We covered what the DSA national co-chair said about abolishing the Senate.

Now, Fox's Martha MacCallum has interviewed the New York City DSA co-chair Gustavo Gordillo. She does a great job asking questions that expose the problems with the organization's positions. Gordillo also didn't do a very good job in response.
Here, he attacks the Senate as an "undemocratic institution," and MacCallum has to explain to him that's by the design of the Constitution.
Gordillo argued that when you ask people if the system is working for them, most people are unhappy. That could be, but if you also asked them if they would scrap the system and replace it with socialism or Communism, they would tell you how great this system is in comparison.
They want to get rid of the Senate to make things more "democratic" and expand the House. That's expressly contradictory to the Constitution and the Founders' intent, which was to specifically reject a pure democracy and mob rule.
Gordillo spoke about how they pushed for freezing the rent in NYC. He claimed no landlord "had a Constitutional right" to a double-digit return on his investment.
So they will freeze the rent, which will lead to more landlords being unable to maintain the building, which will then adversely affect the tenants with things that can't be repaired, and have fewer available apartments.
MacCallum asked a great question that called out this whole sham basis for socialism and Communism: how does the government become more democratized, if the government takes over more of the power [from the people]? It's out and out contradictory. She pointed out how the one government-run grocery storethey're going to have in NYC costs $30 million in taxpayer dollars, is going to put competitive pressure on the bodegas in the neighborhood - you know, the working people that the DSA claims they care about, who are by no means billionaires. His answer is incredible.
He said they were about having a government that "works for ordinary people."
"If one publicly owned grocery store that brings prices down in the neighborhood is enough to put someone out of business, then maybe they shouldn't have been in that business in the first place."
"Interesting," MacCallum replies, almost not believing how much he is cooking himself and the DSA.
So much for caring about those "working people" bodega owners. How then is the government any different than a billionaire business in this analogy? That bodega owner and his customers are just going to get stomped on by the government, which is using their tax dollars to do it.
The funniest part of the interview was when she nailed him on why people leave other countries to come to the U.S. They talked about his parents leaving Peru during the time of the Maoist Shining Path group, and coming here. "So why did your family come to America?" she asked.
“The economic situation in South America and Peru was in a really bad place… much of what we could say was responsible for that actually was the imposition of capitalism and American imperialism. In many cases, it is actually what brings immigrants to the U.S., coming out of Latin America.”
Of course, that's nonsensical. They're largely fleeing because of Communism and autocratic rulers who don't allow them to thrive as they can here.
Martha MacCallum wasn't letting his answer go, “So, they come here because they don’t like the imposition of American imperialism in the country that they’re in?”
Gordillo said yes.
MacCallum finished him, “That doesn’t make much sense.”
Exactly, very well done.
Democrats have largely welcomed these extremists who will eat them alive.
