Healthcare Might Actually Pass

222 Democrats just voted for the slaughter solution, a method that deems the healthcare bill passed. Since a "no" would effectively have killed the legislation without actually a no vote on the healthcare itself, I take this is a bad sign (any Democrat who was against the legislation but didn't want to have a recorded no on the legislation, would have voted "no" now). These fascists might actually win. Crap.

That is good news that healthcare will pass

Only if you like recessions.

No. I like the idea of all Americans getting health care. CBO says it will reduce the deficit.

Deficits don't cause recessions usually, increased taxes do. Also the CBO uses a static analysis, and assumes a minimal drag on the economy through the increased taxes. However as we know, higher taxes leads to a weaker economy and so it is possible that their revenue projections will far short and the CBO estimate may not be worth the paper it is printed on.

I guess we should do away with all taxes, then the economy will soar. Nobody ever said how much is too much in taxes. All I ever hear is that we pay too much in taxes. From my meager knowledge, I think we have one of the lowest tax burdens of most western countries.

Depends on where you live. Check out http://www.forbes.com/global/2009/0413/034-tax-misery-reform-index.html

If you live in NYC, the total tax burden is actually higher than the UK and Germany.

By the way, how can you support the people who condemn Jewish apartments being built in Jewish communities but say nothing about Palestinians building squares named after terrorists who murdered women and children on a day trip to the beach? You'll say they have nothing to do with each other but I believe they are linked. It shows a complete lack of moral center and priorities.

SO what you are saying is the Obama does not support Israel in the manner you want him to, so Jews should not support Obama. Therefore, since in your mind, Bush did everything right with respect to Israel, Jews should have supported everything Bush did.

BTW, Rahm Emanuel's father was a terrorist. He was a member of Irgun. Do you think his son would work for a man who does not support Israel?

I dont remember Irgun specifically targeting civilians. Yes they did bomb the King David Hotel but that was British military hq. So if you believe that Irgun was terrorist then you aren't as pro-Israel as you thought you were.

Well if Rahm didnt work for Obama what other choice would he have? Be a lowly Congressman? 1 out of 435? I think his blind ambition let him ignore the anti-Israeli nature of Obama.

If Obama isn't anti-Israel, how can you explain his actions which are anything but balanced.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irgun

You keep saying if I do not agree with you, I am anti-Israel. Gimme a break.

BTW, how many Israeli bonds have you brought? How much have you given to the IDF?

BTW, Willa says we have been very good for the Israeli economy. Two visits and a third this April.

Bob, I never said you weren't pro-Israel. I said "you aren't as pro-Israel as you thought you were." I know you support Israel, I was just responding to your contention that Irgun was terrorist (unless they bomb buses or crowded markets, they are essentially a standard guerrilla organization). I do as well. I married an Israeli and we make regular trips (cant afford three trips a year though, not in a recession). My kids even have Israeli passports.

Btw, you never explained to me any of Obama's actions towards Israel. If he is not anti-Israel how do you explain anything that he has done?

Max

I do not think Obama has done anything anti-Israel. His approach is different from Bush's. Israel will be safe under Obama. As to how to achieve peace. I doubt it for the foreseeable future, no matter who is President. BTW, I don't travel there 3 times a year. Every other year works for me.

Peace
