Islamists at work...Shiites this time.

Iraqi militants slaughter 34 at Baghdad brothel

BAGHDAD — Iraqi militants reportedly stormed a brothel in Baghdad, killing at least 28 women and six men — and then tacked a note on the door warning: “This is the fate of any prostitution.”
Dressed in military uniforms and street clothing, the militants raided the apartment complex, going room to room, breaking down doors before slaughtering anyone they found inside, CNN reported Sunday.
It said the note was found by an AFP correspondent.
Local residents told CNN the radical Shiite Asa’b Ahl al-Haq organization was responsible for the Saturday attack.
Meanwhile, Iraq’s deadlocked parliament failed on Sunday to overcome the deep divisions hampering the formation of a new government, making no progress on choosing leaders who could help hold the nation together and confront the Sunni militant blitz that has besieged the country.
The parliament is under pressure to quickly choose a new speaker, president and prime minister — the first steps toward a new government.
But just 30 minutes into Sunday’s session, acting Speaker Mahdi al-Hafidh announced he was breaking off the proceedings until Tuesday “due to the absence of any agreement on the names of the nominees for the three posts.”
“There are still deep differences,” he said. “We need more discussions to agree on the names.”
