The EU equivocates once again. Moral relativism in practice

EU officially condemns Gazan attacks while still condemning Israel

The European Union officially condemned the attacks on Israel from Gaza on Tuesday. In the statement, the EU also condemned Israel's retaliation efforts in the face of hundreds of Gazan rockets in 24 hours.

"We are following with grave concern the rapidly deteriorating situation in the South of Israel and the Gaza Strip," the statement begins. "The EU strongly condemns the indiscriminate fire into Israel by militant groups in the Gaza Strip. The EU deplores the growing number of civilian casualties, reportedly among them children, caused by Israeli retaliatory fire."

The statement ends with a call for both Hamas and Israel to exercise restraint and try to achieve a ceasefire.

"The safety and security of all civilians must be of paramount importance."

Terrorists in Gaza fired about 160 rockets at Israel on Tuesday, including a salvo of some 20-30 rockets - some of which reached the Jerusalem and Tel Aviv areas. The Iron Dome defense system intercepted about 40 of the projectiles. The IDF targeted 240 sites in the Gaza Strip in response.
