15 shot in NYC within 8 hours, 2 dead

NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

Fifteen people were shot in a rash of violence in New York City.

The violence left two people dead and 13 others injured within a span of just 8 hours.

The NYPD reported the first shooting late Saturday.  It happened at an East Harlem Park.

In that incident, 3 people were shot, with one of the victims being seriously injured, at Jefferson Park on 113th Street and First Avenue; Shortly before 3 a.m.

On Sunday, 2 people were shot dead in Hamilton Heights when a driver got out of his car and opened fire.

The motorist fled after killing a 21-year-old and a 29-year-old man.

A man in his 20s was shot on West 128th Street and St. Nicholas Avenue in Harlem at around 1 a.m.

A 19-year-old man was shot on Lewis Avenue and Van Buren Street in Bedford-Stuyvesant at around 2 a.m. And a 26-year-old was shot at Sutter Avenue and Pennsylvania Avenue in East New York at around 5:30 a.m.

3 people were shot in the Mott Haven section of the Bronx around 3 a.m. Sunday.

A 19-year-old and a 24-year-old were both shot in the arm and a 29-year-old was shot in the thigh. The three victims are expected to survive.

In the South Jamaica section of Queens at around 6 a.m. Sunday, 4 people were shot when two men got out of a car and fired more than 20 rounds. Two of them are in critical condition.

Police say three other people were shot and injured with non-life-threatening injuries in Manhattan and Brooklyn.

Officers from the NYPD also shot and injured a man who was attacking a woman with a knife in an apartment building in the Bronx shortly before 4 a.m. Sunday.

Seven Killed, 29 Wounded In City Shootings Over Weekend

CHICAGO — Seven people have been killed and at least 29 others wounded in shootings across the city since Friday evening, police said.

Two people were killed and another wounded in what police said was a “domestic-related” shooting in Roseland late Sunday.

The shooting occurred about 9:55 p.m. in the 400 block of West 104th Street, police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer said, citing preliminary information.

Two people were dead at the scene, said Greer, who added that the shooting is believed to be “domestic-related.”

A man was shot and killed early Sunday in the Humboldt Park neighborhood on the West Side.

Police found 26-year-old Kardeon Glover, of the 4100 block of West Grenshaw, with a gunshot wound to the head on the sidewalk in the 900 block of North Karlov about 1:15 a.m., authorities said. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A police source said the man had gang affiliations.

Two people were killed and a third was wounded in a shooting Saturday night in Logan Square.

The three people were in a vehicle in the 2300 block of North Springfield at 11:45 p.m. when someone walked up and opened fire, police said. The vehicle then struck several parked cars.

Jason Seballos, 16, was shot in the back and cheek and taken to Illinois Masonic, where he was pronounced dead. Damian Rodriguez, 21, was shot in the head and also taken to Masonic, where he was pronounced dead.

An 18-year-old man was shot in the finger and taken to Norwegian, where he was listed in good condition, police said.

About 12:50 a.m. Saturday, a 16-year-old girl was fatally shot and a 20-year-old man was wounded in West Englewood on the South Side.

Both were shot in the 7200 block of South Laflin, police said. Shaquise Buckner, of the 1400 block of West 72nd, was dead at the scene, authorities said. The man was taken to Christ Medical Center where his condition had stabilized.

A 25-year-old man was shot and killed a block east of Chicago Police Headquarters about 11:35 p.m. Friday.

Walter Neely was found shot in the abdomen in the 3400 block of South Indiana, authorities said, which is about a block east of police headquarters at 3510 S. Michigan. Someone had walked up and fired at him, police said.

Neely was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:55 p.m., authorities said. His home address was unknown Saturday afternoon.

In the weekend’s most recent nonfatal shooting, a man was seriously wounded in a shooting in the South Shore neighborhood.

The 23-year-old man was shot in the leg in the 7400 block of South Dante in a “possible drive-by,” police said. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in serious condition.

At least 24 other people have been shot across the city since 6:30 p.m. Friday.
