The truth will now get you fired. You can't solve a problem unless you acknowledge the cause.
PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh television station WTAE said it has ended its relationship with anchorwoman Wendy Bell over racial comments she posted on Facebook about an ambush shooting at a cookout that left five people and an unborn baby dead.
In a statement Wednesday, parent company Hearst Television said Bell’s comments were “inconsistent with the company’s ethics and journalistic standards.”
Bell, who is white, speculated about the identities of the two men who fatally shot five black people in the poor Pittsburgh suburb of Willkinsburg on March 9.
In her March 21 post on her anchor Facebook page, she said in part: “You needn’t be a criminal profiler to draw a mental sketch of the killers who broke so many hearts two weeks ago Wednesday. … They are young black men, likely in their teens or in their early 20s. They have multiple siblings from multiple fathers and their mothers work multiple jobs. These boys have been in the system before. They’ve grown up there. They know the police. They’ve been arrested.”
In the same post, she also praised a black restaurant worker in a way some readers felt was condescending.
After a social media backlash, Bell apologized, saying her words “were insensitive and could be viewed as racist.” The station also apologized, saying Bell’s remarks showed “an egregious lack of judgment.”
Authorities have not made any arrests in the killings or provided a description of the possible suspects. Siblings Jerry Michael Shelton, 35, Brittany Powell, 27, and Chanetta Powell, 25, along with two cousins, Tina Shelton, 37, and Shada Mahone, 26, were killed in the ambush shooting, police said. Chanetta Powell was nearly eight months pregnant.
On Wednesday, Bell defended herself, saying she didn’t get a “fair shake” from the station, and that the story was not about her, but about “African-Americans being killed by other African-Americans.”
“It makes me sick,” she told the Associated Press when reached at her home on Wednesday. “What matters is what’s going on in America, and it is the death of black people in this country. … I live next to three war-torn communities in the city of Pittsburgh, that I love dearly. My stories, they struck a nerve. They touched people, but it’s not enough. More needs to be done. The problem needs to be addressed.”
Bell joined WTAE in 1998 and has won 21 Emmy Awards.
Her post drew mixed reactions from viewers. Some saw her comments as offensive and called for her firing, while others said the comments were not racist and applauded her honesty. Facebook pages in support of and in opposition to Bell were created in the wake of the inc

Europe’s Muslims hate the West. It's not what we have done to them, the old liberal trope. It's they are stuck in the 7th century.
The first reaction to the Brussels massacres among postmodern European intellectuals was
predictable: What did we, Europeans, do to them, our Muslims? How could followers of a religion
that is proudly called “the religion of peace” commit these kinds of atrocities?
People like Peter Vandermeersch, the Belgian editor-in-chief of Dutch newspaper NRC- Handelsblad, and Belgian writer David Van Reybrouck, both accomplished intellectuals,
argued that Belgium must have done something terrible to deserve this. Their line of reasoning: The terrorists’ fury must be a reaction to their inhumane treatment at the hands of the West.
So, we blame ourselves in order to remain blameless. Safer to blame our own societies and socioeconomic conditions than to blame the religious and cultural concepts with which terrorists poison their own minds.
According to reports, the unemployment figure in Brussels’ infamous Molenbeek neighborhood — now referred to as the jihadi hothouse of Europe — is 30 percent. This is a relatively high figure in Western Europe, but not unusual in southern European countries or the Arab world. There is poverty in Molenbeek, but that poverty is relative. There is no starvation, no homelessness, no lack of medical infrastructure, no lack of schools.
Compared to average living standards in Morocco or Egypt, the average living standard in Molenbeek is comfortably middle-class. Like in any other Western European country, many Belgian institutions and organizations offer support when families need housing, food, education, and health care. Opportunities for success, and to study and become a respected member in society, are countless compared to those that exist in many immigrants’ countries of origin. Still, there is deep resentment among the younger generations of immigrant Moroccan families.
Immigration into the Netherlands from Morocco and Turkey is an expensive phenomenon for the taxpayer: In the modern welfare state immigrants are more dependent on the welfare state than the average citizen. Because of a lack of higher education and the lack of non-skilled jobs, immigrants absorb a higher part of unemployment and social security payments than the average citizen. As a group, they receive more money than they pay in taxes. They also show up much higher in crime statistics than their numbers would justify. There are many success stories, but there are also disappointing trends. Like radicalization. And the situation in Belgium is even worse.
There is no question that unemployment is much higher among Muslim immigrant communities than among the general public. There are two possible explanations.

There is no question that unemployment is much higher among Muslim immigrant communities than among the general public. There are two possible explanations.
The first goes something like this: The Belgian people are terribly xenophobic and anti-Moroccan,
and deny their Moroccan neighbors opportunities to succeed in life. But if this were the case, the
theory can be applied to every Western European country, as unemployment figures for Moroccan
and other Muslim migrants across Europe are remarkably higher than average. This would indicate
that European xenophobia has reached unbearable levels. Why would Muslims choose to stay in
societies that showed such deep disrespect for their migrant population? Because they realize that
an unemployed citizen in a European welfare state run by infidels has a better material life than an
employed citizen in pious Morocco?
“Life in Belgium is exceptionally good and safe for migrants — if they are willing to integrate into their new cultural environment.
The notion that Moroccan-Belgians suffer from widespread exclusion, discrimination, and suppression is ridiculous — and yet completely acceptable among the politically-correct
crowd. Life in Belgium is exceptionally good and safe for migrants — if they are willing to integrate into their new cultural environment, if they are willing to act as individuals, study with passion and openness, and accept the secular system of the West.
There is no difference at all in socioeconomic status between youngsters from a low-
education, blue-collar Belgian background and youngsters from a Muslim migrant background. Both have to struggle, both have to overcome weak socioeconomic family situations. In Spain, youth unemployment has reached 50 percent and the welfare state is less developed than in Belgium, yet Spanish citizens aren’t blowing themselves up in metro stations.

The other explanation for the high unemployment figures among Muslims in Europe has nothing
to do with exclusion and discrimination. A large segment of the migrant population is doing just
fine, but a significant number — some say as many as 50 percent — have not rid themselves of the
mental and cultural conditions that have kept their home country in its “developing
country” status. The denial of equal rights to women, the lack of separation of state and church, bad education, excessive religiosity, patriarchal machismo — these are all on display in areas with a high percentage of migrants, including Molenbeek.
“Almost 60 percent of Europe’s Muslims reject homosexuals as friends and 45 percent think that Jews cannot be trusted. More than
half believe that the West is out to destroy Islam.
In December 2013, Professor Ruud Koopmans of the Berlin Social Science Center published a study on “Fundamentalism and out-group hostility,” in which he compared hostility among Muslim immigrants with hostility among Christian natives in Western Europe. He writes: “Almost 60 percent agree that Muslims should return to the roots of Islam, 75 percent think there is only one interpretation of the Quran possible to which every Muslim should stick and 65 percent say that religious rules are more important to them than the laws of the country in which they live.” In regards to Christian citizens he concludes: “Less than 4 percent can be characterized as consistent fundamentalists.”
On hatred of Jews and homosexuals among Europe’s Muslim population, Koopmans finds: “Almost 60 percent reject homosexuals as friends and 45 percent think that Jews cannot be trusted. While about one in five natives can be considered as Islamophobic, the level of phobia against the West among Muslims — for which oddly enough there is no word; one might call it ‘Occidentophobia’ — is much higher still, with 54 percent believing that the West is out to destroy Islam.” Recorded rates of Christian hate toward Muslims hover around 10 percent.

wallets.
“Occidentophobia” is an interesting term. It expresses a refusal to accept the essential concepts of life in the West. Young men like the perpetrators of the Brussels attacks have refused to embrace the social codes of Belgian life. They were raised on the idea that their religious ethics
trump the ethics of the infidels (close to non-existent, in their eyes, in any case). Their second-rate socioeconomic status was therefore a humiliating affront, an indignity to be destroyed.
Muslim integration into Europe societies is successful when Muslims are willing to give up the mental confinement of their home countries — countries, let’s not forget, which they left in search of a better life. For as long as they refuse to adapt to a European state of mind, they will perpetuate resentment and a culture of violence.
What did “we” do to “them”? We opened up our cities, our houses, our wallets. And in our secular temples of progress — our metro stations and airports and theaters — their sons are killing themselves, and taking our sons and daughters with them. There is nothing for which we need to apologize. “Occidentophobia” originated in the Muslim community. We need to demand they abandon it.

France: Exodus of 10,000 millionaires amid rising Muslim tensions
- By Ananya RoyRising tensions in France, especially in Paris following a series of Islamist terrorist attacks in 2015, have spurred an exodus of its super-wealthy citizens, a new report on migration trends of millionaires and high-net worth individuals across the world reveals. The report warns that other European countries, including the UK, Belgium, Germany and Sweden "where religious tensions are starting to emerge", will also see similar trends.Regarding a Brexit, the report suggests millionaires would want to stay in Britain even if it leaves the single currency bloc. The report was compiled by New World Wealth, an agency that gives information on the global wealth sector. The report was based on data collected from investor visa programme statistics of each country; annual interviews with around 800 global high net worth individuals and with intermediaries like migration experts, second citizenship platforms, wealth managers and property agents; data from property registers and property sales statistics in each country; and by tracking millionaire movements in the media.
Millionaire outflow
According to the report, Millionaire migration in 2015, France topped the list of countries with maximum millionaire outflows as it lost 10,000 millionaires, or 3% of its millionaire population. Among the cities that saw maximum millionaire outflow, Paris, was at the top – losing about 6% of its millionaire population or 7,000 millionaires in 2015 to the UK, the US, Canada, Australia and Israel."The large outflow of millionaires from France is notable – France is being heavily impacted by rising religious tensions between Christians and Muslims, especially in urban areas. We expect that millionaire migration away from France will accelerate over the next decade as these tensions escalate," the report warns. After France, the list of countries ranked by millionaire outflows includes China ranked second, followed by Italy, India, Greece, the Russian Federation, Spain and Brazil in descending order.Millionaire inflow
As for inflows, Australia was the favourite destination with maximum inflows in 2015 – a total of 8,000 new millionaires. The US was ranked second with 7,000 inflows, followed by Canada, Israel, the UAE and New Zealand.Australian cities Sydney, Melbourne and Perth saw a significant millionaire inflow in 2015 from China, Europe, the UK, the US and South Africa, with Sydney topping the chart with 4,000 new millionaires or 4% added to its existing millionaire population, according to the report. Melbourne and Perth had 3,000 and 1,000 new millionaires in 2015, respectively. Tel Aviv, Dubai, San Francisco, Vancouver and Seattle also featured among the top eight cities with millionaire inflows.Brexit impact on millionaire migration
The New Wealth World survey found that the UK leaving the EU will not lead to an outflow of millionaires. Rather, they will remain in the country because a Brexit would likely result in re-introduction of two-year working visas for citizens from Canada, Australia and New Zealand, and inclusion of the US in the list; stronger alliances with countries like Australia, the US, Canada and New Zealand, India and China; and weaker alliances with EU countries, Turkey and the Middle East. The report highlights a trend that saw many UK-born wealthy people relocating their bases to other English-speaking nations like Australia, US, Canada and New Zealand. "This may be a trend that continues in future as several wealthy UK-born people that we spoke to said they were concerned about the way London and the UK in general had changed over the past decade or so. Australia seems to be their preferred destination," the report says. In 2015, London saw an inflow of 3,000, but an outflow of 2,500 millionaires, who moved to small towns in other parts of England or other English speaking countries.

Whites can no longer play whites in a history film.
The producer claims it's to empower blacks. I say it's to thumb in the nose and to make a buck off of discontent. More fundamental change: A revival of segregation. On free speech grounds, the producer is entitled to his practice his art. What it does show is the fantastical thinking permeating the social engineering crowd.
'Hamilton' hiring practices under fire after casting call solicits non-white actors only
The hottest Broadway ticket in town is shooting down accusations its casting is racist.
“Hamilton” got some blowback Wednesday after releasing a cattle call for auditions with specific age and race requirements.
The trouble started with an open casting announcement on the blockbuster’s website.
“Hamilton” is “seeking NON-WHITE men and women, ages 20s to 30s, for Broadway and upcoming Tours,” the ad said.
The no-whites-need-apply requirement struck some as racist — not to mention illegal under the city’s human rights law.
But civil rights attorney Ron Kuby said it’s legit.
“‘Hamilton’ is about having minority actors in the position of founding fathers,” said Kuby.
The advertisement might violate the city’s human rights law, he said — but not necessarily the Constitution, the document Hamilton helped create.
“It’s almost always illegal to advertise on the basis of race, but when you’re casting ... it can be a bona fide occupational requirement,” he said.
“Same issue on age. I don’t have to cast an elderly white guy if my (project) is about a young black man,” Kuby said.
But the all caps “NON-WHITE” drew criticism from Actors' Equity and other theater professionals.
“The language ... is inconsistent with Equity’s policy,” spokeswoman Maria Somma.
“Hamilton” honchos said the “confusion” caused by the ad was regrettable.
“It is essential to the storytelling ... that the principal roles — which were written for non-white characters (excepting King George) — be performed by non-white actors,” the statement said.
A stagehand at the hip-hop history lesson said he was “surprised” by the ad.
“If it was the other way around, [Rev. Al] Sharpton would be down here in a frenzy,” he said.
But hopeful actress Abigail Whittington, 15, from North Carolina, said it was showbiz as usual.
“Auditions are often like that. I'm not saying it's right ... I definitely don't agree with (it), but that's kind of how it's always been,” she said, as she stood in line for “Hamilton” tickets.
Super-fan Tina Pepe, 57, of Armonk, N.Y., who’s already seen “Hamilton” twice, believes in author Lin-Manuel Miranda’s colorblind concept.
“In an effort to be inclusive to all races, (they) may be reaching out to non-whites,” she said.
Her son Daniel Pepe, 18, another aspiring thespian in line with her, said tough breaks are part of an actor’s life.
“People of color don’t have enough opportunities as it is in the business,” he said. “I, as a white male, have more of a chance to get something, to get a role. I'm totally fine with it.”
Theater professionals said casting calls should be as carefully crafted as “Hamilton” lyrics.
“It is advisable to take an affirmative approach, rather than an exclusionary one,” said Howard Sherman, interim director of the Alliance for Inclusion in the Arts.

Officers who shot unarmed black man Jamar Clark will NOT be charged because 'evidence shows they feared for their lives'
- Jamar Clark, 24, shot in the head by Minnesota police on November 15
- Witnesses said he was wearing handcuffs, he died a day later
- A judge on Wednesday ruled Clark was not wearing handcuffs, tried to gain control of an officer's weapon, and the officer's feared they'd be shot
- He ruled against charging white officer Mark Ringgenberg and officer Dustin Schwarze, whose race has not been reported

Two Minneapolis police officers involved in the November fatal shooting of a black man will not be charged, a Minnesota prosecutor said Wednesday.
A judge said evidence showed Jamar Clark, 24, was not handcuffed at the time, attempted to gain control of an officer's weapon and the officers believed they were in danger of being shot.
Consequently, he ruled against indicting Officer Mark Ringgenberg and Officer Dustin Schwarze for their roles in Clark's death.
Ringgenberg is white, and Schwarze's race has not been released.
On November 15, police said they responded to a reported assault in which Clark was a suspect, and he was interfering with paramedics trying to treat the victim.
Killed: Jamar Clark, 24, (pictured) was shot in the head by Minnesota police on November 15
Clark was shot during what authorities called a struggle.
Some who said they saw the shooting have said Clark wasn't struggling at the time and was handcuffed, but Freeman said forensic evidence shows that he was not handcuffed. Clark died a day later.
The shooting prompted protests in Minneapolis, including an 18-day encampment outside a north side police precinct.
Freeman decided earlier this month against taking the case to a grand jury.
Investigators had video of Clark's shooting from several sources, but said early on that it didn't provide a full picture of what happened that night. Protesters have demanded that authorities release the video. They also demanded that the case not go to a grand jury for consideration of charges.

Public skepticism over grand juries, who do their work in secret, grew after police officers weren't indicted in the high-profile deaths of blacks in other cities, including the fatal 2014 shootings of 12-year-old Tamir Rice in Cleveland and 18-year-old Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri, and the 2014 chokehold death of 43-year-old Eric Garner in New York.
But grand juries reached indictments in other cases, including in Chicago, where an officer faces murder charges in the 2014 death of 17-year-old Laquan McDonald, whose shooting was captured on video.
The state of Minnesota investigated whether Ringgenberg and Schwarze violated state laws, and the FBI, the U.S. Attorney's Office in Minnesota and the Department of Justice's Civil Rights Division were conducting a federal criminal investigation to determine whether police intentionally violated Clark's civil rights through excessive force.
That's a high legal standard because an accident, bad judgment or simple negligence on the officer's part isn't enough to bring federal charges.
Community leaders listen as Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman announces that two Minneapolis police officers, Officers Mark Ringgenberg and Dustin Schwarze, will not be charged in the November fatal shooting
His death sparked a wave of political protests and demonstrators, led by the local Black Lives Matter group
The Department of Justice is also reviewing how the city responded to protests after Clark's death.
The protesters, which included organizers of Black Lives Matter Minneapolis, the Minneapolis NAACP and other community groups and citizens, raised the issue of difficult relations between black residents and Minneapolis police.
The unrest over Clark's death also included demands that city and state leaders do more about persistent poverty seen as the root of racial tensions. The state is considering funneling millions of dollars toward job training, loans and other initiatives to help black residents get ahead.
The protests were largely peaceful. Four men were charged with felonies in a Nov. 23 attack on protesters that prosecutors say was racially motivated. One of the men allegedly fired shots at protesters, leaving five with injuries that were not life-threatening.

Another Climate Alarmist Admits Real Motive Behind Warming Scare
- 3/29/2016
Fraud: While the global warming alarmists have done a good job of spreading fright, they haven’t been so good at hiding their real motivation. Yet another one has slipped up and revealed the catalyst driving the climate scare.
We have been told now for almost three decades that man has to change his ways or his fossil-fuel emissions will scorch Earth with catastrophic warming. Scientists, politicians and activists have maintained the narrative that their concern is only about caring for our planet and its inhabitants. But this is simply not true. The narrative is a ruse. They are after something entirely different.
If they were honest, the climate alarmists would admit that they are not working feverishly to hold down global temperatures — they would acknowledge that they are instead consumed with the goal of holding down capitalism and establishing a global welfare state.
Have doubts? Then listen to the words of former United Nations climate official Ottmar Edenhofer:
“One has to free oneself from the illusion that international climate policy is environmental policy. This has almost nothing to do with the environmental policy anymore, with problems such as deforestation or the ozone hole,” said Edenhofer, who co-chaired the U.N.’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change working group on Mitigation of Climate Change from 2008 to 2015.
So what is the goal of environmental policy?
“We redistribute de facto the world’s wealth by climate policy,” said Edenhofer.
For those who want to believe that maybe Edenhofer just misspoke and doesn’t really mean that, consider that a little more than five years ago he also said that “the next world climate summit in Cancun is actually an economy summit during which the distribution of the world’s resources will be negotiated.”
Mad as they are, Edenhofer’s comments are nevertheless consistent with other alarmists who have spilled the movement’s dirty secret. Last year, Christiana Figueres, executive secretary of U.N.’s Framework Convention on Climate Change, made a similar statement.
“This is the first time in the history of mankind that we are setting ourselves the task of intentionally, within a defined period of time, to change the economic development model that has been reigning for at least 150 years, since the Industrial Revolution,” she said in anticipation of last year’s Paris climate summit.
“This is probably the most difficult task we have ever given ourselves, which is to intentionally transform the economic development model for the first time in human history.”
The plan is to allow Third World countries to emit as much carbon dioxide as they wish — because, as Edenhofer said, “in order to get rich one has to burn coal, oil or gas” — while at the same time restricting emissions in advanced nations. This will, of course, choke economic growth in developed nations, but they deserve that fate as they “have basically expropriated the atmosphere of the world community,” he said. The fanaticism runs so deep that one professor has even suggested that we need to plunge ourselves into a depression to fight global warming.
Perhaps Naomi Klein summed up best what the warming the fuss is all about in her book “This Changes Everything: Capitalism vs. the Climate.”
“What if global warming isn’t only a crisis?” Klein asks in a preview of a documentary inspired by her book. “What if it’s the best chance we’re ever going to get to build a better world?”
In her mind, the world has to “change, or be changed” because an “economic system” — meaning free-market capitalism — has caused environmental “wreckage.”
This is how the global warming alarmist community thinks. It wants to frighten, intimidate and then assume command. It needs a “crisis” to take advantage of, a hobgoblin to menace the people, so that they will beg for protection from the imaginary threat. The alarmists’ “better world” is one in which they rule a global welfare state. They’ve admitted this themselves.

Tense Scene Unfolds When Black Woman Accuses White Student of Cultural Appropriation for Dreadlocks
San Francisco State University said Tuesday it had opened an investigation after a viral video captured a black female student accuse a while male student of cultural appropriation for having dreadlocks.
A 46-second video uploaded to YouTube captured an unidentified woman accost student Cory Goldstein in a hallway Monday over his hair style.
“You’re saying I can’t have a hairstyle because of your culture? Why?” he asks.
“Because it’s my culture,” the woman replied.
Goldstein sarcastically noted dreadlocks were prominent in Egyptian culture and asked the woman, “Are you Egyptian? Nah.”
“Are you Egyptian? Wait, where’s Egypt? Tell me. Where’s Egypt?” the woman asked as she physically prevented him from leaving the area.
“Yo, girl. Stop touching me,” Goldstein told her.
“Come back. Come back,” she said as she pulled him by the arm.
“I don’t need your disrespect,” Goldstein said.
The women then realized she was being filmed.
“Why you filming this?” she said.
“For everyone’s safety,” the cameraman answered.
Goldstein told KRON-TV that the incident started when the woman wouldn’t hand him a flier because she was offended by his hair. He told the news station that she said, “Sorry we don’t want people with your hair here.”
The university said in a statement that university police were called the scene after it occurred.
“[N]o criminal charges have been pressed at this time to the University’s knowledge,” the statement said.
“San Francisco State University promotes the rights of the campus community to engage in free speech, but does not condone behavior that impedes the safety or well-being of others,” the statement added. “We are taking the matter seriously and will promptly and thoroughly investigate this incident through applicable University channels, including our campus student conduct procedures.”

After His Son Was Killed by Unlicensed Immigrant Driver, Dad Spent Years Compiling Data. He ‘Was Stunned at What’ He Found.
After His Son Was Killed by Unlicensed Immigrant Driver, Dad Spent Years Compiling Data. He ‘Was Stunned at What’ He Found.
Since Drew Rosenberg was run over and killed while riding his motorcycle in San Francisco, California, on Nov. 16, 2010, by an unlicensed immigrant who reportedly came to the U.S. illegally, Drew’s father, Don, has been looking for answers.
Considering the manner in which his 25-year-old son tragically died, Rosenberg, 63, has set out on a mission to try and find out how many people die each year as a result of unlicensed drivers, launching a nonprofit to explore the issue called Unlicensed to Kill.
“I was stunned at what I found,” Rosenberg wrote on his website. “Not only were unlicensed drivers killing people in numbers only exceeded by drunk drivers, but many times they were barely being punished and many times faced no charges at all.”
He continued: “There are two different kinds of unlicensed drivers. There are those who have never been issued a license and those whose licensed has been suspended, revoked or expired. Over 90% of those who have never been issued a license are in this country illegally.”
Rosenberg estimates that 7,500 Americans die each year due to unlicensed drivers and that more than half of those deaths are caused by illegal immigrants. Rosenberg published his findings on his organization’s website.
But tabulating those numbers is quite difficult and ends up yielding mere estimates due to the fact that immigration statuses aren’t reported when it comes to highway deaths. Rosenberg has spent a great deal of time going through the data in an effort to parse out the stats.
“I’ve learned over time that many jurisdictions do not cite license status or immigration status when reporting these statistics, so if anything, the numbers are understated,” he told Fox News. “For example, San Francisco doesn’t report either criteria, so Drew’s death defaults to having been killed by a licensed driver who was a citizen.”
On the Unlicensed to Kill website, Rosenberg described the circumstances surrounding his son’s tragic death, noting the immediate information that he said authorities gave his family the day after the accident back in 2010.
“The next morning we met with the police inspector on the case. He told us that the driver of the car, Roberto Galo was unlicensed, in the country illegally and after killing Drew tried to flee the scene,” Rosenberg wrote. “A few days later the inspector called to tell us there was a mistake and Galo was in the country legally.”
The Center for Immigration Studies, a think tank, identified Galo as being from Honduras in a 2013 article on the matter, noting that the man was eventually arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs enforcement.
“Galo is an illegal immigrant who has been living here legally since the late 1990s under a grant of Temporary Protected Status (TPS). Beneficiaries of TPS may apply for driver’s licenses; but Galo could not get one because he failed the driving test three times,” wrote Jessica Vaughan, director of policy studies for the Center for Immigration Studies.
TPS allows for some immigrants to remain in the U.S. “due to conditions in the country that temporarily prevent the country’s nationals from returning safely, or in certain circumstances, where the country is unable to handle the return of its nationals adequately.” The status is granted to some nationals of those countries “who are already in the United States.”
The situation surrounding Galo’s purported immigration status was complex, though Fox News reported that he was eventually deported in 2013 following years of legal wrangling.
