Chicago: While the protestors marched, reality reigned in their neighborhoods.

  • At 12:30 a.m. Sunday, a man was shot in the hand in the Rosemoor neighborhood. He was in the 10000 block of South Vernon Avenue when two people fired shots. He went to Advocate Christ Medical Center, and his condition was stabilized.
  • Two people were shot about 10:50 p.m. Saturday in the Homan Square neighborhood. A 21-year-old woman and 17-year-old boy were outside in the 3500 block of West Grenshaw Street when the woman was shot in the lower back and the boy was shot in the right leg. Both were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, and their conditions were stabilized.
  • About 10:40 p.m., a 27-year-old man was shot in the 1000 block of North Central Park Avenue. He was in a gangway when someone fired shots, hitting him in the lower back. He went to Stroger Hospital, and his condition was stabilized. 
  • About 9:40 p.m., a 16-year-old boy was shot in Englewood. He was on the sidewalk in the 5500 block of South Wood Street when two people came out of a gangway across the street and fired shots. He went to Holy Cross Hospital, and his condition was stabilized. 
  • At 8:10 p.m., a 19-year-old man was shot in the 4100 block of South Ellis Avenue in the Oakland neighborhood. He was shot in the shoulder and taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition.
  • Just before 7:40 p.m., a 22-year-old man was shot in the 1900 block of North Mozart Street in the Logan Square neighborhood, said Michelle Tannehill, a police spokeswoman. The man was on the sidewalk when someone he told police he didn't know came up to him and started firing, hitting him in the upper torso. The man was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was in serious condition
  • Just before 4 p.m., a 26-year-old man was shot in the Brighton Park neighborhood. He was outside in the 4500 block of South Fairfield Avenue when a dark-colored vehicle drove by and someone inside fired shots, hitting the man in the right shoulder. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition was stabilized. 
  • About 3:55 p.m., a 32-year-old man was shot in the head and critically wounded in the Hyde Park neighborhood, Tannehill said. He was shot in the 5400 block of South Drexel Avenue and taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition. 
  • Three people were wounded in the 9300 block of South Stony Island Avenue in the Calumet Heights neighborhood about 2:25 p.m., police said. Attackers opened fire on the men as they were standing on the sidewalk, Tannehill said. One of the men returned fire and threw the gun under a car. The 18-year-old man retrieved the weapon and began to flee when he realized he had been shot and stopped to call 911. The 18-year-old man was shot in the ring finger and was taken to Advocate Trinity Hospital in good condition, Tannehill said, correcting initial information that all three were taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center. A 19-year-old man shot in the left arm and a 17-year-old boy shot in the left leg were both taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in good condition. All three were being held for questioning by police.
  • A 21-year-old man was wounded in an earlier shooting in the Burnside neighborhood, Tannehill said. He was in the 500 block of East 88th Place about 2:15 p.m. when he got into an argument with someone who then began shooting at him, hitting him in the chin. The man's condition was stabilized at a local hospital, Tannehill said.
  • About 8:50 a.m., a 30-year-old man was grazed by a bullet in the Humboldt Park neighborhood. He walked in to Norwegian American Hospital with a graze wound to the head and told investigators he had been shot in the 1300 block of North Washtenaw Avenue.
