A culture of violence. The kind of people cops have to deal with.

Philando Castile’s fiancé charged with assault in alleged hammer attack

Cops have arrested the fiancé of Philando Castile — the unarmed man fatally shot by a Minnesota cop last year — for attacking a woman with a hammer, authorities said.
Diamond Reynolds, who recorded the horrific July 2016 shooting of Castile, was booked on second- and third-degree assault for the brazen tool attack.
Reynolds and two other women — Chnika Blair and Dyamond Richardson — appeared before a Ramsey County judge on Friday. Bail was set at $90,000 each, and all three are due back in court on Monday, according to the St. Paul Star Tribune.
The 27-year-old and her accused accomplices were picked up on Thursday in connection with the crime.

Reynolds was arrested without incident, St. Paul public information officer Steve Linders told the Daily News.
The unidentified victim told police she noticed a white SUV following her as she drove through St. Paul on Tuesday. When she pulled into a parking garage, she said Reynolds and Blair got out of the SUV and came toward her, according to the criminal complaint filed Friday.
Reynolds, the victim claims, approached her and punched her in the head. A struggle ensued during which Reynolds allegedly struck the victim with a hammer, knocking her to the ground, according to the complaint.
The blows to the head continued once the victim hit the floor, the document indicates, before Reynolds supposedly took the hammer to the windshield of the victim’s car.
Richardson then showed up in another car, got out and started hitting the victim with pepper spray — sending her fleeing, according to the court documents.
It wasn’t clear what drove the three to allegedly embark on the brutal beat down.

Cops later found the victim at the hospital, where she had blood pouring down from her forehead to her face and shirt.
Reynolds was in the passenger seat last summer when Castile, a 32-year-old school cafeteria worker, was shot during a traffic stop in Minnesota. She gained attention for live-streaming the incident on Facebook, turning the camera on a dying Castile as he helplessly bled out.
The couple’s 4-year-old daughter was in the car during the incident.
Jeronimo Yanez, the Minnesota police officer accused of shooting Castile, was charged in November with manslaughter. He pleaded not guilty on Monday and the trial is moving forward.
Because Ramsey County is prosecuting Yanez, the case against Reynolds will be prosecuted by the neighboring Washington County attorney, Linders said.
